Welcome!
Welcome to the Parish of Wivelsfield
, the majority of which resides in the county of East Sussex although the northern end is in West Sussex. Even if you're in the East Sussex part your postal address will be in Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill and will have a West Sussex postcode. Oh, to be in England!!

As for the distinction between Wivelsfield and Wivelsfield Green, thereby hangs another tale! Nobody is absolutely sure but it seems that the Post Office may be partly responsible. We are told that the original Post Office was next to the church and was known as Wivelsfield Post Office. Subsequently a new one was opened at the other end of the village (where it is to this day) where the ancient Village Greens were situated. (Fair Place is so called because it is where village fairs were once held.) To distinguish it from the original Post Office it was called Wivelsfield Green.

Apart from all that we like to think that the parish and all who live in it are relatively normal and we hope that you will want to become part of its life and activities.
